Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that Halo 3 sold 58,672 units between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30. Halo 3 was released in the territory on Sept. 27 to factor three days worth of sales in the documented period. The sales rank is a milestone for the Xbox 360 which has struggled to move units in Japan due to lack of software. In Sept., Japan third party publishers expressed renewed confidence in the platform. Tecmo will produce a new Ninja Gaiden sequel and Square Enix will produce two new RPG titles for the product. Microsoft this week announced that the third Halo title generated $300 million in first-week sales in the U.S. Additionally, more than 2.7 million players have participated in multiplayer sessions on Xbox Live. Halo 3 is the final chapter in the current trilogy. The franchise has sold more than 20 million units to date worldwide.
